Brechlin, Gust (29 Jun 1891 – 8 Jul 1967)
Gust Brechlin, 76, Abbotsford, died at his home at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, following a lingering illness.
The body lay in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home until noon Sunday when it was taken to the Abbotsford city hall at 2 o’clock. Services were conducted there at which Clinton Goff and Loren Hamilton officiated. Mrs. Harold Brockhaus was pianist and accompanist for Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Dissmore of Eau Claire who sang “Life’s Short Day” and “O God We Thank Thee for the Way”,
At the graveside services at the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery, Mr. and Mrs. Dissmore and the Misses Eleanor and Grace Skilbred, Evanston, Ill., sang “Abide With Me”.
The pallbearers were: Harold Brockhaus, David Carlson, Lawrence Carlson, Laverne Marcott, Bertrand Pearson and Faye Russell.
Mr. Brechlin was born June 29, 1891, in the town of Mayville, Clark county. On September 11, 1912, he and Emma Paul were united in marriage at Dorchester.
The couple made their home at Dorchester while Mr. Brechlin worked for the railroad at Abbotsford and Chippewa Falls. Later he farmed in the town of Little Black until August, 1949, when they moved to Medford. Since 1951 they lived in Abbotsford.
In addition to his wife, survivors are a daughter, Gladys, at home, a son Russell, Evanston, Ill.; two brothers, Ed Brechlin, Dorchester, and Arthur Brechlin, Larson; a sister, Mrs. George (Martha) Hoff, Abbotsford; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
