Beaver, Air Force Sgt. Dennis D. (Military Notes - 1973)
Air Force Sgt. Dennis D. Beaver, whose wife, Peggy, is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Wissell, Rt. 2 Loyal, has been selected to participate with the
Strategic Air Command (SAC) in Royal Air Force strike command bombing and
navigation competition in England, April 29, through May 5.
Sgt. Beaver, an instrument systems equipment specialist with the 410th Bomb Wing
from K. I. Sawyer AFB, Mich., will help provide support for his B-52
Stratofortress bomber crew flying in the competition. Four B-52 crews will be
competing and will fly their mission ns from Marham RAF Station.
Each crew will fly two missions during the competition. The first will be a day
mission, which will include two low-altitude simulated bomb runs and the second
will be a night mission with two high-altitude simulated bombs and one celestial
navigation leg.
SAC units, competing in their seventh Royal Air Force event, will be after their
fourth straight Blue Steel Trophy - awarded to the crew with the best combined
bombing and navigation score - and their second consecutive electronics trophy,
given to the best navigation crew.
Sgt. Beaver is a 1969 graduate of Loyal High School.
