Griesbach, Margaret A. (Steines) (9 MAY 1922 - 6 OCT 2014)

Margaret A. Griesbach, age 92, of Rozellville, passed away in the early morning of Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at House of the Dove in Marshfield with family present at her bedside.

Margaret was born May 9, 1922, in Stratford to Eugene and Mary (Kaiser) Steines. She attended both Stratford public and parochial schools.

On October 16, 1941, Margaret was married to Norbert Andrew Griesbach in La Crosse. In 1991 they celebrated their 50th golden wedding anniversary. Sadly, Norbert passed away January 4, 1999. Both she and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Day until retiring in 1980. They continued to reside in the Rozellville area after that.

She was a longtime member of Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church, both the Saint Andrew’s Christian Mothers and Parish Council of Catholic Women, held the position of treasurer for Catholic Order of Foresters, taught CCD for over 18 years, and was an Avon representative.
Her hobbies included crocheting and knitting, reading, bowling and watching Cubs baseball.

Survivors include her two children, Mary Ann (Harold) Boyer of Unity and Don (Cindy) Griesbach of Stratford; and one son-in-law, Richard (Jamie) Smith of Mosinee; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Theurer of Stratford and Mary Feltz of Marshfield; one brother, Sylvester “Doc” (Maxine) Steines of Tripoli; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Steines of Stratford; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norbert; a daughter, Shirley Smith; a son-in-law, Harold Ertl; four sisters, Ann, Gert, Sister Susan and Verna; and four brothers, Vincent, Pete, Lawrence and Frank.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church in Rozellville. Rev. John Robert Alphonse will preside. Burial will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday at the church in Rozellville from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Acting as pallbearers for Margaret will be Steve, Scott and Todd Ertl, Dean Smith and Craig Griesbach.

Memorials to Saint Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rozellville, are being accepted in Margaret’s name.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the care and compassion shown to their mother by the staff at House of the Dove-Marshfield.
