Lampi, Gertrude E. (28 JUL 1914 - 9 OCT 2014)

Gertrude E. Lampi, age 100, of Abbotsford, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. Rev. Dr. Gary Paul will officiate. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery in the Town of Hixon. Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 AM until time of service Monday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Gertrude was born on July 28, 1914 in Marquette, Michigan, the daughter of Matt and Fannie (Lukkala) Lampi.

She attended the Bee Hive School in rural Owen until the eighth grade. Gertrude cared for her parents and then moved to Illinois in 1969. While in Illinois, she worked in Highland Park at the Moraine Hotel and Villa Moderne for 10 years and then worked at the Hearth Fair in Glenview. During her working career she was a waitress, housekeeper and a child care provider. Gertrude moved to Abbotsford in 2005.

Gertrude was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford, and she enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 6 brothers and sisters; Signe Saari, Mary Peura, Matt O. Lampi, Ina Johnson, Joseph Lampi and Michael Lampi.
