Columbia (10 May 1973)

There are more arrivals in the area. Tuesday three of our favorite birds, the purple martins, flew in. Wednesday there were five and Monday morning the count was nine. They are cold and hungry. However, colder weather has moved in and there are no flying insects. These birds catch their food while flying.

Tony Klepek and son, Toby, of Berkeley, Ill., were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Bohnhoff. Mr. Klepek is a brother of Mrs. Bohnhoff. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Winter of Pine Valley and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Jurkiewicz were visitors at the Bohnhoff home Saturday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wegner of Hewett visited William and Georgeana Schulz last week Wednesday evening. Sunday visitors at the Schulz home were Mr. and Mrs. Ole Aspen and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Vornholt of Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kolbrak of Altoona spent the weekend at their country home here. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Endel Saturday evening.

Mike Werderitch of West Allis spent the weekend on his property in Columbia. This is Mike’s first visit here in several months.

Mrs. George Mashin slipped in the mud and fell outside her home last week Wednesday evening and suffered a fracture of the bone in the upper left arm. The bone has been reset and the arm is in a cast.
