Seefeldt, John R. (25 February 1920 - 8 May 1973)
Granton’s postmaster since 1969, John R. Seefeldt, 53, of Rt. 1 Granton, died
May 8 at the Marshfield Convalescent Center. Funeral services were held Friday
afternoon from the Gilbertson Funeral Home at Granton with the Rev. Melvin
Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Windfall
Cemetery, where graveside rites were conducted by the Loyal American Legion
post.
John Seefeldt was born February 25, 1920, at Alden, Ill., and was educated in
schools there. His marriage to the former Myrtle Goodfell took place June 8,
1946, in Hebron, Ill.; the Seefeldt’s moved to Granton, in 1950. Mr. Seefeldt
was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Myrtle, and his mother, Mrs. Edna Seefeldt
of Granton, are two daughters, Mrs. Kermit (Carol) Oppriecht of Reedsburg and
Kathleen Seefeldt of Neillsville; one son, James Seefeldt of Granton; a sister,
Mrs. Carl (Betty) Montgomery of Granton; a brother, Charles Seefeldt of Granton;
and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were: William Morley, Dr. Victor Tharp, Judson Phipps, William
Beeckler, William Naedler, Jr., and Eugene Walters, Sr.
Mrs. Lee Garbisch was the organist.
