Schlinkert, Viola (7 January 1914 - 19 October 2014)

Viola Schlinkert, 100, entered her eternal home Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at Berlin Memorial Hospital with her family at her side.

She was born Jan. 7, 1914, to Charles and Bertha (Prust) Guk in Lynn. She attended Maple Grove School and then helped her parents on the farm until she married Victor Schlinkert Sept. 13, 1940. The couple farmed in rural Neillsville until 1982, when they moved into Neillsville. She currently resided at Heartland House assisted living, Wautoma.

Viola was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and while health permitted, was an active member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed the many years of farming and being a homemaker. Her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Viola is survived by two daughters, Verona (Russell) Kloehn of Wautoma and Vanda (Frank) Garcia of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Sara (Todd) Russ, Rachel (Derek) Kasten, Jonathan (Jennifer) Kloehn and Jason Garcia; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; her parents; one brother; five sisters; a granddaughter, Renee (Kloehn) Rosenbaum; and a great-granddaughter, Sadie Russ.

The funeral service for Viola will be held at 11 a.mm. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Neillsville (Globe), with Pastor John Warmuth officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will take place in the church cemetery following the service.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Berlin Memorial Hospital and at Heartland House in Wautoma and to Ministry Home Care for the excellent and compassionate care that Viola received.

“We are saddened by our loss but we rejoice with her that she is now enjoying that home in heaven that our Lord promises to all who have their faith founded in Him.”

Online condolences may be made at www.geschefh.com.  The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Viola’s family with funeral arrangements.
