Schwarze, Donald A. (14 APR 1931 – 17 OCT 2014)
Donald Allen Schwarze, 83, Mountain Home, Ark., died on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014,
after a battle with cancer. His body will be cremated and no services will be
held.
Don was born on April 14, 1931 at the Marshfield, Wis. Hospital, the oldest son of Ewald and Sarah
(nee Olson) Schwarze. He played football with the Greenwood Indians and
following graduation from the Greenwood High School, farmed with his father for
several years before entering the U.S. Army as a private. He served in the
Korean War and was honorably discharged as a master sergeant in 1955 with
numerous honors of distinction.
Returning to civilian life, Don attended the Spencerian Business College in
Milwaukee. He spent most of his working career with the Department of
Agriculture in Madison, a position which required state-wide travel, court
appearances for criminal cases, and occasional radio interviews and
discussions.
On Sept. 18, 1965, he married Barbara Weber in Beaver Dam. They had no children.
His retirement was spent in both Mountain Home, Ark., and Rice Lake. The last
several years were lived in Mountain Home.
Don is survived by his wife of 49 years; one brother, Stan (Janet) Schwarze,
Rochester, Minn.; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
Biographical Information
Dick Larson played quarterback for the Greenwood High School and Don was the center. Dick said he'd call "quarterback sneak" get a hold of Don's hip pads and let Don pull him for a 1st down. It worked every time they needed a yard or two!
