Neillsville - Calvary Lutheran (Mother-Daughter Banquet - 1973)
A garden party theme set the mood for the Mother-Daughter banquet held Monday
evening at Calvary Lutheran Church. Tables were decorated with pastel napkin
rings, napkins, place cards, flowers and candles. Men of the church served the
dinner and washed dishes afterwards. Co-chairmen of the event were Mrs. Kendall
Smith and Mrs. Lloyd Zimmerman.
Featured speaker on the program was Harry Liebzeit of Greenwood who showed
nature slides and displayed handcrafted burl bowls. Mrs. Richard Witte acted as
master of ceremonies and presented a reading on the subject of daughters. Her
daughter, Natalie, gave a response entitled “What is a Mother?” Mrs. Donald
Clemens welcomed everyone to the banquet and led the table prayer.
Potted geraniums were presented to Mrs. Marlene Oestreich, Mrs. Patricia
Schleifer, Mrs. Rasma Nagy, Mrs. Mary Heineck and Mrs. Caryl Solberg for being
the mothers with the most daughters (3 each) present. Mrs. P. L. Jordahl was
honored as being the oldest mother (fear some missing words here).
