George W. Strebe, 85, rural Athens, a former Abbotsford resident, died March 8 at Bellingham, Wash., where he was visiting at the home of his son.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, and burial was in the Abbotsford cemetery.

The Rev. David Elleman of GSR, Medford, officiated at the services and Mrs. Elleman was the organist.

The Pallbearers were Robert Bergman, Richard Brown, Lloyd Kluckman, Chester Marthaler, Walter Marthaler and Clyde Strebe.

George W. Strebe was born December 8, 1881, at Abbotsford, where he received his education. His marriage to Delia Ann Moore, who preceded him in death, took place May 20, 1904, at Abbotsford. He did lumber and mill work in the Abbotsford area, and then operated a sawmill in the Goodrich area for 26 years before making his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Braun, at Athens seven years ago.

Surviving are three sons, Earl, Schiocton, and Claude and Emery, Bellingham, Wash.; four daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Jenny) Lancaster, Monroe, Wash., Mrs. Frank (Cecile) Juntti, Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Matt (Nila) Braun, Athens, and Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Bergmann, Abbotsford; a brother, Purl Strebe, Livingston, N. Y.; two sisters Mrs. Gertrude McIntyre, Mt. Vernon, Wash., and Mrs. Frank Provinski, Abbotsford; 26 grand children, and 11 great grand children.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, and three brothers.
