Funeral services for Mrs. Wilhelmina Bogaard, Abbotsford, were held Saturday
morning, February 4, at St. Bernard’s Catholic church, Abbotsford. The Rev. Emil
Hodnik officiated and burial was in the Abbotsford cemetery. Pallbearers were
Jim Nikolay, Frank Nikolay, Rueben Schmidt, Darrell Bobbe, Mel Nikolay and
Clayton Afkend. Funeral arrangements were handled by Polnaszek Funeral Home,
Abbotsford.
Mrs. Bogaard died at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, at the home of her son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Kuwietzky, Baraboo. She was 83 years old.
Mrs. Bogaard was born Wilhelmina Van Padua November 10, 1883, in Holland where
she received her education. She was married in Holland to William Bogaard
November 8, 1910. After coming to the United States, the couple lived in
Kimberly and Appleton before moving to Abbotsford in 1926. They operated a
bakery shop here until their retirement in 1933. She was a member of St.
Bernard’s Catholic church and an honorary member of the Altar society.
Survivors are her husband; three sons, Alex, Seattle; Clement, Evanston, Ill.,
and Robert, Abbotsford; one daughter, Mrs. E. P. (Mary Simerson) Kuwietzky,
Baraboo; grand children and one great grand child. Three brothers and three
sisters preceded her in death.
