------ Staffeil, Emma (18 MAY 1884 – 12 MAY 1967)
Mrs. Emma Staffeil, 82, Colby, died Friday, May 12, at St Joseph’s hospital,
Marshfield, of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services were held Monday at
Zion Lutheran church, Colby. The Rev. David Pankow officiated and burial was in
Colby Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Dale Schmidt, Mike Wiese, Clifford
Smith, Jim Staffeil, Douglas Hoffman and Ron Kasten. Funeral arrangements were
handled by Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby. Kenneth Schulz was the vocalist for the
service, accompanied by Mrs. Lawrence Preim at the organ.
Mrs. Staffeil was born Emma Dins May 18, 1884, in the town of Colby, and
received her education in Colby area schools. Her marriage to William Staffeil
took place January 24, 1907, at Zion Lutheran church, Colby. The couple farmed
in the town of Colby for most of their lives. Mr. Staffeil died in September of
1937. Mrs. Staffeil had lived for the past 17 years in the city of Colby. She
was a member of the Zion Lutheran church sewing circle and ladies’ aid.
Survivors are one son, Roger Staffeil, Colby, and four daughters, Mrs. Gerhardt
(Laura) Schmidt, Colby; Mrs. John (Aurella) Bowen, Abbotsford, Mrs. Harry
(Alice) Karsten, Curtiss, and Mrs. William (Leona) Koffarnus, Owen; one sister,
Mrs. Amelia Wiersig, Colby; 14 grand children and eight grand children. She was
preceded in death by her husband and two brothers and two sisters.
