The Family of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bobbe of Abbotsford were with them at an evening
dinner Saturday, June 3, at the Colby Hotel and later at the Bobbe home to mark
the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary. To add to the festivities, a
decorated wedding cake and yellow and white mums were used in the table
decorations. Mr. Bobbe wore a shite carnation boutonniere and his bride of fifty
years ago had a corsage of white gladioli and carnations with gold trim.
Fred Bobbe and the former Edna Mechelke were married June 1, 1917, at the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Mechelke, at Dorchester with the Rev. Bursack
officiating.
Mrs. Bobbe, a native of Milwaukee, was educated in Cascade and Dorchester
schools and taught music.
Mr. Bobbe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bobbe, was born in Ashley, N. Dak. He is a
graduate of the Amherst high school and Stevens Point business college. He
operated a milling and flour business in Dorchester and later at Milan where for
17 years he had a hardware and implement business. He continued with the
International Harvester implement business at Abbotsford from 1934 to 1958.
While in the Milan community, Mr. Bobbe served a number of years as clerk on the
school board and for four years was clerk for the town of Johnson. At Abbotsford
he was on the village board and was Clark county supervisor a number of years.
Since his retirement, Mr. Bobbe has engaged in his hobbies of fishing and wood
working.
Mrs. Bobbe’s interests are in music, sewing, gardening and church work.
Both are members of the First Presbyterian church, Abbotsford.
Mr. and Mrs. Bobbe are the parents of two sons and one daughter, Howard Bobbe of
Medford, Darrell Bobbe of Abbotsford, and Mrs. Norbert (Vangel) Buss of
Libertyville, Ill.
There are 15 grand children and three great-grandchildren.
