------ Martin, Janice R. (09 JUN 1967)
Miss Janice R. Martin of route 1, Colby, and John L. Wenzel of Atlanta, Ga.,
were married Friday, June 9, at 7 p.m. in a double ring ceremony at St. Joseph’s
Catholic church, Stratford, with Father E. J. Thome reading the ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Ivan G. Martin of Colby and Mr. and Mrs.
Leo Wenzel of Stratford.
The men’s choir from St. Joseph’s church provided music during the ceremony.
The bride chose a floor length satin sheath dress, designed with a loose panel
front, long sleeves and a detachable watteau train. Sequins around the neckline
set off the styling. A fingertip veil was attached to a flowered head piece.
Serving the bride as maid of honor was the groom’s sister, Donna Wenzel. A
friend, Pat Martin of Marshfield, served as bridesmaid. They wore floor length
pink crepe dresses with lace tops and a sheer flowing back panel. Matching sets
of flowers and face veiling completed their ensembles.
The best man was Ronald Martin, the bride’s brother, and a friend Dan Bernard of
Westbrook, Maine was the groomsman.
Floral decorations were placed on the altar of the church with two bouquets of
pink roses and white carnations on the main altar and a bouquet of pink roses
and white carnations at the statue of the Virgin Mary.
After the ceremony, a reception was held for about 60 guests at the Rondivoo at
Stratford, followed by a wedding dance. Other wedding festivities included a
shower given by the groom’s parents and the bride’s attendants with 30 guests at
the Wenzel home at Stratford.
The bride was employed as a receptionist at Berg Equipment Corp. at Marshfield,
and the groom is serving in the army at Atlanta, Ga., where the couple will make
their home.
Out of town guests attending came from Minneapolis, Minn., Woodstock, Ill.,
Dallas, Kewaskum, Stevens Point, Virginia, Milwaukee, Plum City, Janesville,
Marshfield, Rothschild, Edgar and Wausau.
