Winter, Jennie Y. (15 April 1895 - 2 June 1973)
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for
Mrs. Jennie Y. Winter, 78, of Memorial Home, who died June 2. The Rev. Melvin
Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the
Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Winter, the daughter of Cephas and Wealthy (Youmans) Winton, was born April
15, 1895, at West Union, Ia., and came to Clark County as a young girl. She was
educated in local schools. Her marriage to Julius Winter took place November 20,
1913, in Neillsville. The couple farmed in the Columbia area until Mr. Winter’s
death in 1948. Mrs. Winter made her home with her children until two years ago
when she entered Memorial Home because of failing health.
Survivors include seven children: Clifford Winter of Neillsville, Mrs. Ellis
(Edith) Ottens of Fulton, Il., Mrs. Roy (Alice) Lisko of Milwaukee, Mrs. Leslie
(Vivian) Flaherty of Ypsilanti, Mi., Mrs. Fred (Florence) Marty of Granton, Mrs.
Ward (Clarice) Lockman of Longview, Wa., and Mrs. Ed (Grace) Schoen of
Neillsville. She is also survived by a sister, Hattie Winton of Neillsville; and
by 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Arthur Winter. (This added

Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Winter, 78, of Memorial Home, who died June 2
were held June 5 from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Nickel of
the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Neillsville City
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mrs. Winter’s grandsons: David, Donald, Darrel and Duane Marty,
Edward Schoen and Kenneth Ottens.
“When the Roll is Called Up Yonder” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” were
sung by Cheri Diers. Linda Diers was the accompanist.
Attending the services from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Ottens and Marla
and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ottens of Fulton, Il., Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lisko of
Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Flaherty of Ypsilanti, Mi., Mr. and Mrs. Ward
Lockman and daughter Carrie of Longview, Wa., Ruby Wiegman of Waukegan, Il., Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Marty, David, Duane and Lori and Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Cook of
Granton, Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Marty and family of Port Edwards, Mr. and Mrs.
Donald Hillert and family of Mondovi, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Downer of West Bend,
Katheryn Koran of Marshfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kopp of Humbird.
