Witek, John (15 AUG 1880 – 17 SEP 1967)
Funeral services for John M. Witek, 87, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 17th,
1967, at Victory Memorial Hospital of old age complications, were held at St.
Stanislaus Church, Lublin, on Wednesday, Sept. 20th. Father Ed Cyz officiated at
the ten a.m. service, with burial in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jerry Wnek, Stanley Halida, John Fink, Dennis Miller, Ray
Kroll and Walter Bak.
Mr. Witek was born Aug. 15, 1880 in Poland. In 1905 he came to the states,
settling in Chicago, where he married in 1906. In 1912 they moved to Lublin and
he farmed till 1948, when he retired.
Surviving are three sons, John J. and Frank Witek, both of Withee, and Peter
Witek of Lublin; four daughters, Mrs. Stella Nowicki and Mrs. Sophie Latko, both
of Chicago, Mrs. Lillian DeSon of Montebello, Calif., Mrs. Rose Malinowski,
Withee; 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
His wife preceded him in death in 1963, and one daughter, Mrs. Vernie Mitchell
also preceded him in death.
