Sandel, Ronald (29 AUG 1946 – 9 OCT 1967)
A city of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) combat casualty in the Vietnam War has been
recorded, as the result of word received from the Department of Defense by the
family here.
Sp. 4 Ronald Sandel, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Sandel, City of Thorp, was
killed October 9th, 1967 at 3 p.m. No other word was given, as Army
representatives notified the family in person at their home here Tuesday
morning.
However, a phone call later in the day notified them they would receive a letter
in the near future of what had happened.
Ronald was a lifelong resident of this city. He had enlisted in the Army about
11 months ago and served in Vietnam five months to the day of his death as an
Army medic.
He was born Aug. 29, 1946, attended the Thorp schools and was a Thorp High
School graduate of the class of 1964.
