Barth, Gertrude Louise Almanda (12 January 1896 - 6 June 1973)
Funeral services were held June 9 from St,. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Thorp, for
Mrs. Gertrude Barth, 75, a retired Clark County schoolteacher, who died June 6
at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. The Rev. R. W. Olson officiated and
burial was made in the Sylvan Cemetery.
Mrs. Barth, the former Gertrude Louise Almanda Meier, was born January 12, 1896,
in the Town of Burke in Dane County. Her marriage to Conrad William Barth took
place June 30, 1924, in Medford. Mr. Barth preceded her in death.
Mrs. Barth lived in the Town of Holway, in Medford and in the towns of Reseburg
and Mead in Clark County. She taught schools in Dorchester, Curtiss, Perkinstown
and Medford, and in the Reseburg State Graded School.
She is survived by five sons: Leonard Barth, Sr., of Stanley, Conrad Barth of
Darien, Il., Fred Barth of rural Greenwood, Robert Barth of Stanley and Edwin
Barth of rural Stanley; three daughters, Mrs. Ione Much of Shiocton, Mrs. Donna
Hein of Sun Prairie and Mrs. Gertrude Hollfelder of Mt. Horeb; two brothers,
Arthur Meier of Withee and George Meier of Phoenix, Az.; three sisters, Mrs.
Adeline Seffrood and Mrs. Elsie Seffrood of South Wayne and Mrs. Edna Kelly of
Shullsburg; and by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Connie Barth, Leonard Barth, Jr., Donald Barth, LeRoy Groeschel,
Kenwood Meier and Corlis Meier.
