Holstein, Esther (21 JUL 1895 – 14 OCT 1967)
Mrs. Floyd G. Holstein, 72, 1741 Elk St., Stevens Point, died at St. Michael's
Hospital at 1:45 a.m., Oct. 14, 1967. She had been seriously ill for the last
four months.
A resident of Stevens Point since 1941, she was the former Esther Lindquist,
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim Lindquist. Besides her parents, three
brothers, Lawrence, Russell and Donald, and two sisters, Jennie and Ella,
preceded her in death.
She was born at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) July 21, 1895, and went to school here.
After graduating from Thorp High School and Eau Claire Teachers College, she
taught school near Eidsvold, in Verona and Wilson in Wisconsin, and Edgar, Mont.
She was later an advance agent for the Red Path Chautauqua Co.
On Jan. 23, 1925 she was married to Mr. Holstein in Laurel, Mont. They lived in
Edgar, Mont. until 1934, in Junction City Ore. For a year, and then in
Neillsville, before coming to Stevens Point.
Mrs. Holstein was chairman of the Music Committee of St. Paul's Methodist Church
for several years, and was a substitute teacher in the Stevens Point schools for
many years.
She was a member of the Twilight Club, the Stevens Point Women's Club, The
Eastern Star and the Women's Society of Christian Service of St. Paul's
Methodist Church.
Her survivors include her husband, a salesman for De Mert & Dougherty, Inc.; two
daughters, Mrs. Keith (Gretchen) Schoff, Madison, and Mrs. Nicholas (Elizabeth)
Delgrass, Palo Alto, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Walter Schoen, Green Bay, Mrs.
Chester Johnson, Thorp, and Miss Lorraine Lindquist, Chicago; three brothers,
Charles Lindquist, Calusa, Calif., Durward, Menasha, and Kenneth, Thorp; and one
grandson.
Funeral services were held at the Boston Funeral Home, Stevens Point at 2 p.m.
Tuesday, with the Rev. Theodore Schwartz of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Stevens
Point, officiating, and burial followed in Restlawn Memorial Park, Town of Grand
Rapids.
