Laniewski, Sophia (15 MAY 1885 – NOV 1967)
Private funeral services for Mrs. Sophia Laniewski, 82, of Rt. 5, Chippewa Falls
were held Thursday morning at Notre Dame Church, with Father T.M. Scheible
officiating.
Mrs. Laniewski was born May 15, 1885 in Poland. She was united in marriage to
John Laniewski in Poland. She came to the United States when she was 19 years
old and settled in Gilman, then moved to a farm near Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). He
husband died in 1939. In 1947 she and her sons moved to Bateman, where they
owned and operated the Bateman Store and Tavern.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John Smodilla and Mrs. Leo Lee, both of
Chicago, and three sons, Felix of Rt. 5, Chippewa Falls; Leon of Madison; and
Stanley of Chicago; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one
brother, Basil Marcinak of Poland.
