Denis O’Grady was here from Merrillan on Monday.
L.B. Ring was at Green Bay a couple days last week.
Edwin Billings came up from Madison to spend a few days.
A daughter was born on Monday to Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Fass.
M. Hoesly returned Saturday from a few days’ visit at Wausau.
Will Huntley, Jr., transacted business at Wausau on Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. P.N. Nelson spent Sunday at Black River Falls.
H.M. Root went to Milwaukee Monday to spend a short time.
Chas. Huntley was home from Minneapolis a couple days last week.
Mrs. Florence Wing and Miss May Shaw were at Marshfield on Saturday.
Doc Hinman came up from Dundee Monday to spend a short time here.
Miss Mae Free returned last week from Madison where she has been teaching.
Miss Anna Johnson is home from Madison where she has been teaching this year.
L.R. Barton went to Milwaukee Saturday to spend a few days with his best girl.
Chas. Sherett is now doing the American Express delivery work for George Hart.
Miss Frieda Radke returned to La Crosse Normal Saturday to attend summer school.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brauer and children drove to Oshkosh on Sunday to spend a few
days.
Mrs. M. Rodolf is here to spend some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.L.
Hemphill.
Mrs. Ben Brown left on Thursday for East Lansing, Mich., to spend a short time
with her husband.
Mrs. J. E. Counsell and daughters, Irene and Nina, left Saturday for a visit at
Madison and other points.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hauge and Mrs. Anderson and daughter drove to Blair Sunday
and spent the day.
Miss Olson, who has been nursing at the Neillsville Hospital for several weeks,
returned to Chicago on Sunday.
Mrs. Horace Case of Ft. Atkinson spent a couple of days here with the Rudolph
Frantz family, being on her way to Ashland.
Mrs. Julius Belter left Thursday for a visit at Janesville with her daughters,
Mrs. Walter Doering and Mrs. John Roehl.
C.R. Crandall of Jefferson County went to Hancock Monday after spending a short
time here with his brother, Nels Crandall.
Mrs. Jake Haas left Sunday night for Camp Grant to spend a few days with her
husband. She will also visit at Jefferson before returning home.
Mrs. Ruth Dittmer and Miss Marie Bruley went to Marshfield Monday, Mrs. Dittmer
to undergo an operation for the removal of her tonsils.
Mrs. J. H. Wright has returned home from a visit with her parents in Whitehall
and with friends in Alma Center and Neillsville. – Marshfield News
W.J. Marsh was at Milwaukee Sunday to meet a representative of a large coat and
suit factory in the east and from whom he bought part of his fall supply.
Mrs. John Michael of Humbird died at the Luther Hospital in Eau Claire Tuesday
morning of last week after several weeks’ illness with a kidney trouble.
Mrs. Jos. Prock received word from Mr. and Mrs. Nick Enders that they had made
the trip to Beloit in a day and a half and would soon be settled in their new
home.
Mr. and Mrs. E.L. McIntyre and son came up from Milwaukee Sunday. He returned
Monday evening, but his wife and son will spend some time here with her mother,
Mrs. Kennedy.
Mrs. Devere Barton and children, who have been visiting here for several weeks,
left Monday for a visit at Cadott before returning to her home at Crest de
Butte, Colo. Her mother, Mrs. Boone, accompanied her to Cadott.
Miss Cecyl Blancher left Saturday for Tacoma, Wash., where she will live. Miss
Blancher is well known through the county, having been supervisor of Rural
Schools and has taught at Abbotsford and Colby. She was accompanied by her
brother, Erwin. – Loyal Tribune
Mr. and Mrs. Will Stoffel went to Merrillan Saturday with the expectation of
spending a few minutes with their son, Glynn, who was going from Great Lakes to
Minneapolis with a bunch of jacky boys. Unfortunately they were disappointed in
seeing him as his train went through before they reached the Junction.
Quite a number from Neillsville attended the Red Cross picnic at Merrillan
Sunday and which was a huge success. Among those from here were Dr. and Mrs.
Bradbury, Dr. and Mrs. Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Andersen, Mr. and Mrs. S.E.
Weld, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Rush, Mr. and Mrs. L. Williamson, Mrs. Mary Bruley, Mrs.
Emery Bruley, A.E. Holcomb and daughter, Miss Helen Crocker.
Frank Kelly was here from Tioga Monday on business.
Ray Clemens went to Chicago on Monday on a business trip.
Mrs. Patrie and Mrs. Earl Kidd of Owen visited with Miss Elizabeth Kennedy on
Friday.
Mrs. George Broiher and children left Monday for a visit at Ossian, Iowa.
Mrs. V.H. Nehs went to Rice Lake Monday to spend a short time at home.
Mrs. Clayton Vine of Taylor returned home after a few days visit here.
Miss Leona Albright returned from Sparta where she has been teaching this year.
Miss Alice Ainsworth returned home from Minneapolis Monday to spend the
vacation.
Mrs. Mary McMillan went to Abbotsford Tuesday to spend a few days with her
daughter, Mrs. Frank Wing.
Thermo Luethe of Minneapolis is spending the week with his wife, who is visiting
at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Leason.
On June 12 Judge Schoengarth united in marriage Albert Engle of town Loyal
and Miss Jennie Dittman of Greenwood.
I.M. Stockwell came from Volga, S.D., Saturday to spend a few days with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Stockwell.
Miss Flossie Leason came home last week from Downer College at Milwaukee to
spend the summer vacation.
Mrs. W.A. Campman drove to Black River Falls Friday and she and Mr. Campman went
from there to Melrose to spend a couple of days.
Mrs. Dan. Caldwell and children came from Chicago last week to join Mr. Caldwell
here. The Jackson and Caldwell families are spending a couple of weeks at the
Brameld cottages on the river.
Sunday afternoon Cecil Verbeck smashed his car quite badly. He ran into the
culvert abutment on the bridge at the fair ground. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Schafer
were in the car with him. Mrs. Schafer hurt her wrist, but otherwise none of the
occupants were injured.
Ray A. Clemens, who was appointed sales director for Certificates of
Indebtedness for Clark County by the Governor of the 7th District of Federal
Reserve Banks, was called to Chicago Monday to attend a Conference of Directors
of Bankers, one from each county in said district. W.C. Tufts is also in
attendance as assistant.
Mrs. Hattie Klauer returned to Oshkosh Monday after a few days visit here.
Dan Blum of Eau Claire visited with the Svirnoff boys on Monday. He was on his
way to Kiel.
A.E. Dudley slipped from a stepladder while hanging paper at Major Martin’s home
Monday, breaking two ribs.
Mrs. John Raine fell down the cellar steps at her home last week and injured
herself quite badly.
Miss Irene Lloyd went to Merrillan Monday to meet her niece, Mary Ashbaugh, who
returned home from school at Davenport that day.
Mr. and Mrs. M.C. Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Harley Wall left yesterday on an auto
trip, the former to go to Columbus and the latter to Evansville.
Sergt. A.L. Harris of Ft. Sheridan arrived here Sunday morning to join his wife
who had been making an extended visit with her sister, Mrs. Jos. Butler and
family. They returned Sunday night on the 11:30 train. Mrs. Butler and children
are going with them for a few days’ visit.
