Granton (July 1973)
Granton Senior Citizens are to meet Tuesday, July 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the
Granton Park for a potluck picnic. Members are to bring their own dishes and
sandwiches and a dish to pass. In case of rain, the picnic will be held in the
village fire hall at the same hour. Last month’s picnic meeting was well
attended and enjoyed by all.
Many from the area helped Mr. and Mrs. Warren Mechelke observed their Silver
wedding anniversary Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Leland Garbisch and family drove to Alexandria, Mn, over the
weekend, the occasion being the reunion of Mrs. Garbisch’s high school class
there.
Mrs. William Schmidtke attended a Welch family reunion Saturday at Wildwood Park
in Marshfield. The family gathering was occasioned by a visit from Mr. and Mrs.
Orman J. Welch and sons of Westboro, Ma. Others present were: Mr. and Mrs.
DuWayne Welch and family, Mrs. Stanley Fait and children, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry
Guensberg and family and Mrs. Teresa Welch of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry
Welch and children of Chili and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Sauer and family of DePere.
Mr. and Mrs. Neal Fero and family of Milwaukee arrived Thursday night to spend
the weekend and coming Fourth of July week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle
Fero. The Neal Feros left Monday to spend a few days in Duluth, Mn.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Adler of Waukegan, Il, returned home last Wednesday from a
visit with her mother, Mrs. Otto Schmidtke. Mr. and Mrs. Otto A. Schmidtke and
family of Stratford visited with his mother Saturday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Terry Coyle have moved from the Schmidtke house in the village to
their new home which they purchased from Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Vanderwyst. The
Vanderwyst’s in turn, have moved into their new home which was erected last
week.
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fero visited Mrs. Arlene Breseman last Monday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Herb Neilsen of Eau Claire called on Mrs. Ethel Berg Saturday
afternoon. Friday evening visitors at the Berg home were Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Finnigan of the Twin Cities area.
