Overman, Thomas E. (14 July 1940 - 7 November 2014)
Thomas E. Overman, 74, went home to be with his Lord Nov. 7, 1914. He was born
July 14, 1940, in Greenwood to Meric V. Overman and Evelyn J. (Ericson) Overman.
Tom graduated from Neillsville High School in 1958 and later earned a Bachelor
of Arts degree in education from the University of Wisconsin and a Master’s
degree in education from the University of Arizona. He taught in Green Bay and
also at Amphitheater High School in Tucson, AZ.
He moved to Alaska in 1968 and served as principal in Ninilchik, AK, from 1968
to 1970 and Sedovia, AK, from 1970 to 1979, and associate superintendent at
Soldotna, AK, from 1979 to 1988. Tom retired from the Kenai Peninsula Borough
School District in 1988, moving to Salome, AZ, in 1992, where he served as
superintendent at Bicentennial High School from 1992 to 1996.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sharon (Blakley) Overman, of Salome; son, Karl
(Susan) Overman of Tucson, AZ, Kurt (Lisa) Overman of Falls Church, VA, and
Meric (Kathy) Overman of Chadd Ford, PA; sister, Kay Johnson of Neillsville;
brother, Jerry (Lynn) Overman of Black River Falls; mother-in-law, Helen G.
Blakley; grandchildren, Kristina and Chase Overman of Tucson, AZ; Angellena and
Gabriella Overman of Falls Church, VA; and Andrew, Adam and Alexa Overman of
Chadd Ford, PA.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
