Vanderhoof, Elaine G. (Lundberg) (23 JUL 1929 - 5 MAY 2007)
Elaine G. Vanderhoof, 77, town of Hill, died May 5, 2007, at her home surrounded
by her loving family and Hope Hospice & Palliative Care.
She was born July 23, 1929, in the town of Hill, to John and Ella (Bergeson)
Lundberg. She attended Norlin Graded School and was a 1947 graduate of Rib Lake
High School.
In 1949, she graduated from Taylor County Teachers College. She taught for one
year at Liberty School in the town of Spirit.
On Dec. 28, 1949, she was united in marriage to Norman H. Vanderhoof in Dubuque,
Iowa.
She was a member of Ogema Baptist Church, past Sunday School teacher and Girls
Meeting God leader at Ogema Baptist Church, and past 4-H leader of the town of
Hill Hillbillies. She was also a member of the town of Brannan Historians.
She enjoyed raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren and gardening. In the past year, she wrote three books on
the history of her family and community.
She is survived by Norman, her loving husband of 57 years; by two sons, John
(Kathy), town of Hill, and Larry (Roni), Prentice; by five daughters, Joyce
(Richard) Hildebrand, Milford, Iowa, Louise (Chuck) Lukes, town of Hill, Lynn
(Maurice) Moriarity, Greenfield, Susan (Dennis) Ochodnicky, town of Hill, and
Nancy (Frank) Lukes, town of Hill; by fifteen grandchildren and eleven
great-grandchildren; by a half brother, John (Mary) Anderson, Prentice; by a
half sister, Joanne Craker, Holcomb; by a brother-in-law, Carl Granberg,
Prentice; and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Nicholas Ochodnicky; and
by one sister, Adelle Granberg.
Private graveside services were held May 9 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, town
of Hill.
Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with
arrangements.
