Roehl, Hazel Marie (15 December 1935 -17 November 2014)
Hazel Marie Roehl (nee Wetzel), 78, of Neillsville died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014,
at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.
Funeral services for Hazel will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 1014, at
St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. Pastor Timothy Biebert
will officiate. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery on her
birthday, Dec. 15, 2014. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at
the Gesche Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Hazel Marie Roehl, 78, of Neillsville died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at the
Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.
Hazel Marie Wetzel was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Neillsville, the daughter of Emil
W. and Meta M. (Reetz) Wetzel. She graduated from St. John’s Lutheran School in
Neillsville and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1954. She was united
in marriage to Clifford W. Roehl Jan. 9, 1960, at St. John’s Evangelical
Lutheran Church Church by Rev. Norman Lindloff. Hazel worked for many years as a
homemaker, farmer, bartender and kitchen worker at the Memorial Medical Center
in Neillsville. They sold the farm in 1982, Clifford died in 1986 and Hazel
retired from the hospital in 2000.
Hazel was a lifetime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, having
been confirmed and married there. She always enjoyed a game of cribbage and a
bottle of Coke.
She is survived by seven children, Rex R. (Susan) Roehl of Neillsville, Randy
Roehl of Neillsville, Roger (Beverly) Roehl of Neillsville, Rodney(Suzanne)
Roehl of Neillsville, Ronda (Ronald) Lafferty of Black River Falls, Ross Roehl
of Neillsville and Rita (Donald) Crothers of Neillsville; 14 grandchildren,
Nancy Curtin of Neillsville, Michael (Melissa) Coulthard of Neillsville, Matthew
Coulthard of Neillsville Brant Waltemate of Wausau, Brett Roehl of Colby, Dillin
(Deb) Lafferty of Tomah, Ryan Roehl of Neillsville, Adam (Ashley) Watton of
Marshfield, and Garrett Watton of Neillsville; seven great-grandchildren, Chase
Curtin, Aubree Polzin, Sierra Coulthard and Brady Coulthard, Marcus Waltemate
and Aden Watton and Vanessa Watton; one great-great- granddaughter, Quinn Reis
Polzin; four siblings, Walter (Joyce) Wetzel, Florence (Leo) Weisner, Raymond
(Sharon) Wetzel and Karen (Kenneth) Mohr, all of Neillsville; and many nieces
and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford W. Roehl, Sept. 8, 1986;
her father, Emil W. Wetzel, Jan. 1, 1973; her mother, Meta M. Wetzel, Jan. 14,
1990; her father-in-law, William C. Roehl, Jan. 2, 1977; and her mother-in-law,
Hattie B. Roehl, June 1, 1978.
Funeral services for Hazel were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at St.
John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville with visitation from 4 p.m. to
8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Gesche Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service
at the church. Pastor Timothy Biebert officiated. Music was provided by Sharon
Nemitz, organist, and St. John’s Children’s Choir. Interment will be in the
Neillsville City Cemetery on her birthday, Dec. 15, 2014.
