Schmidt, Judith Kay (20 July 1950 - 5 November 2014)
Judy Schmidt, 64, of Marshfield formerly of Neillsville, died Wednesday, Nov. 5,
2014, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Judith Kay Schmidt was born July 20, 1950, in Marshfield, the daughter of
Raymond and Betty (Wunrow) Grancorvitz. She graduated from Marshfield high
School and was united in marriage to Brian F. Schmidt June 21, 1974. Judy and
Brian owned and operated The White Horse restaurant in Neillsville from 1978 to
1995. Brian died in 1996. Judy than worked for 11 years at the Ho-Chunk Casino
in Black River Falls as the supervisor of food/beverage services. Her health
forced her to retire.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Grancorvitz of Marshfield; two sisters,
Ellen (Jeff) Gall of Marshfield and Diane (Randy) Eilers of Colby; three nieces
and seven nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Brian; a son, Jason Lee, who passed
away in infancy; and her father, Raymond Grancorvitz.
The funeral service for Judy was held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at
the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the
time of service. Fr. Varkey V. Joseph officiated. Interment will be in St.
Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of
7N at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, and to the staff at Golden Living
Center - Three Oaks and the doctors and staff at DaVita Dialysis for the
excellent and compassionate care Judy received. Judy showed great courage and
strength during her illness.
