Mattson, William H. (13 OCT 1903 – 17 DEC 1967)
William H. Mattson, 64, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), died of complications at 7:30
p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield, where he had been a patient
for the past 10 days.
Services were conducted at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Katherine's Episcopal
Church, with the Rev. Richard Hewetson officiating. Burial was made in the
Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Mattson was born at Brentwood, Wis., Oct. 13, 1903, and later came to Owen.
He was a barber for 14 years, and then opened a tavern at Owen.
His marriage to Violet Seegal (Sigel in her obit), who preceded him in death
Dec. 9, 1944, took place in 1931 at Owen. Dec. 11, 1962, he married Ethel
Jennings of Wausau.
Mr. Mattson was a charter member of the Clark County Tavern League. And past
president of the Owen Commercial Club.
In addition to his wife, survivors are a son, Robert, Curtiss; two grandchildren
Rhonda and William Mattson; six sisters, Mrs. Carl (Elsie) Tavio, Minneapolis;
Mrs. William (Martha) Mundt, Milwaukee; Mrs. Neil Elva Laine, Owen; Mrs. Emil
(Jenny) Havelin, Westboro; Mrs. Matt (Diane) Bumbach, Owen; and Mrs. Richard
(Thelma) Upjohn, Rib Lake; a a brother, Vern Mattson, Chicago.
