Sayles, Arthur E. (16 SEP 1880 – 12 DEC 1967)
Arthur E. Sayles, 87, route 3, Stanley, died Tuesday at his home after a long
illness.
He was born in New York on Sept. 16, 1880. At the age of eight he moved to Clark
County with his parents and settle in the Eidsvold (Clark Co., Wis.) area. As a
young man he worked for the Northwester Lumber Co., Stanley, and later started
his own sawmill in Eidsvold, and operated it for 62 years before retiring.
He married Blanche Decker in June 1912 in Thorp (Clark Co.).
He is survived by one son, Donald, at home; three grandchildren, and five
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Home, with
Rev. Robert Allen officiating. Burial was in the Eidsvold Cemetery.
