Calvary Lutheran Church (New Pastor - 1973)
The Rev. Ronald J. Nordin, recently of Maddock, N.D., will be installed as
pastor of Calvary Lutheran Church at the 9 a.m., worship service Sunday. The
Rev. Norris Erdal of Wausau, executive assistant to the president of the
Northern Wisconsin district of the American Lutheran Church, will conduct the
service and the installation ceremony. A fellowship brunch will follow.
Rev. and Mrs. Nordin and their two sons, Kris and Karl, were expected to arrive
in Neillsville Tuesday or Wednesday. At Calvary, Rev. Nordin will succeed the
Rev. Daniel Litzer who accepted a call to Trinity Lutheran Church, Stevens
Point.
Since Rev. Litzer’s departure in May, the Rev. Alden Moldenhauer of Wausau has
served the congregation as interim pastor. Rev. Moldenhauer is a former pastor
of Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal.
Rev. Nordin, a native of Willmar, Mn, graduated from Augsburg College,
Minneapolis, in 1964 and from Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul, in 1969. He
was ordained at his home congregation, Grace Lutheran, Lake Lillian, Mn., on
June 8, 1969.
The Nordins served a two-year internship on a volunteer-program in Port Moresby,
Papua, New Guinea, working with a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church of New Guinea. During that time Mrs. Nordin, a graduate of St. Olaf
College, Northfield, Mn, taught nursing at the Papuan Medical College.
