Hauge, Emma (2 November 1884 - 8 July 1973)
A Neillsville native, Mrs. Emma Hauge, 88, of the Grand Army home at King, died
July 8 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point. Funeral services were to be
held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the
Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating. Interment was to be in the Neillsville City
Cemetery. The Georgas Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hauge, the daughter of Fred and Johanna (Golz) Steinberg, was born November
2, 1884, in Neillsville and was educated in local schools. Her marriage to Fred
Kurth took place in 1902. Mr. Kurth, who was employed at the Neillsville
Brewery, died in 1915.
She was married to Martin Hauge, a tinner by trade, on October 23, 1919. He died
January 29, 1953. Mrs. Hauge, a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran
Church, entered the Grand Army Home at King on July 13, 1962.
She is survived by three children: Mrs. Gretchen Ampe of Madison, Herbert Kurth
of Neillsville and Harry Hauge of Mosinee; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Scheffler of
Ludington, Mi.; a brother, Albert Steinberg of Fargo, N. D.; and 14
grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
