Lenz, Wilbur Hugo (18 August 1909 - 7 July 1973)

Wilbur Hugo Lenz, 63, a lifelong resident of Greenwood, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack at his home in Greenwood at 2 a.m. Saturday, July 7. Mr. Lenz, son of Hugo and Ida (Leuke) Lenz, was born August 18, 1909, in the Town of Eaton. He received his education there.

He was married July 22, 1950, to Betty Halton in Neillsville. He served in the armed forces from 1942 to 1945 in the South pacific. He was employed by the Clark County Highway Department, for 38 years as a truck driver and has farmed five and one-half miles south of Greenwood for 17 years. He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Christie and was on the church council.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mary Jane Lenz, in the U.S. Air Force in Iceland; two sons, Harold and Evan, at home; four brothers, Roy of Jim Falls, Arnold of Marshal, Loren of Oconomowoc and Donald of Greenwood; and two sisters, Mrs. Alex (Louise) Krubsack of Ashippim and Mrs. Allen (Bethel) Christopherson of Hartford.

Funeral services were scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Christie. The Rev. Robert Bitter was to officiate. Burial was to be in the Christie Cemetery.
