Franke, Kurt Robert (8 April 1905 - 5 July 1973)
Funeral services for Kurt Robert Franke, 68, of Neillsville, who died July 5,
were held Monday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary
Clark of the united Church of Christ officiating. Interment was in the
Neillsville City Cemetery.
Kurt (Schroeder) Franke, the son of Robert and Alvina (Schroeder) Franke, was born April 8,
1905, in Germany and was educated there. He came to Clark County at the age of
18 and worked on a farm with his aunt and uncle. Mr. Franke was employed by the
Nelson Muffler Corporation from 1945 until 1965 when he retired because of
failing health. His marriage to the former Helen McDonough took place July 7,
1945, in Neillsville. The couple lived in Neillsville.
Survivors, in addition to his wife (D. Helen McDonough Franke), include two children, John R. Franke of Black
River Falls and Mrs. Laverne (Jean) Johnson of Osseo, MN; and one grandchild.
His only other living relative in this area is Erwin Poelzel of Rt. 3
Neillsville.
Pallbearers were Elliot Warlum, Anton H. Bichler, Glenn Lezotte, Everett Skroch,
Louis Meinholt and Clarence Reinart. Mrs. James Spangler was the organist.
People from out-of-town who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Laverne
Johnson and daughter of Osseo, Mn, and Mr. and Mrs. John Franke and Mr. and Mrs.
Clifford Hanson of Black River Falls.

*Mr.
Herman Franke died in 1925 from the eastern part of the town of Levis was found
dead in his bed by two nephews who are making their home at his house. Mrs.
Franke was in the Marshfield hospital being operated on for appendicitis.
