Rossenbach, LaVerne Rosamond (23 May 1916 - 5 December 2014)

LaVerne Rossenbach, 98, of Neillsville died Friday, Dec. 5, 2104, at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident since 2007.

LaVerne Rosamond Skar was born May 23, 1916, in Merrillan, the daughter of Christ and Elvina (Kolbrak) Skar. She was baptized in the Merrillan Methodist Church and graduated in 1934 as valedictorian of her class. As a young woman, she fixed hair in her home. She was united in marriage to Cecil Rossenbach Jan. 2, 1945, in Dubuque, IA. She cared for her mother after her father passed away May 4, 1947. Her mother died March 12, 1958. She then got into the stock market with her husband’s help and continued investing in the market even after her husband’s death Oct. 3, 1968.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Dorothy (Leander) Jacoby of Neillsville, Carol Ayers of Neillsville, Marie Henning of Neillsville, Glenn Thompson of Neillsville, Jean (Melvin) Erickson of Sunburg, MN, Clarence (Karen) Brandstedter of Tampa, FL, Albert Skar of Black River Falls, and Audrey (Ziggy) Stuck of Oak Lawn, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Oscar Skar; and three sisters, Margaret Ottoson, Isabelle Thompson and Clara Brandstedter.

A Memorial service for LaVerne will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate. Music will be provided by Sharon Bjerke, organist. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Gesche Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery at Agra, OK.
