Washburn (12 July 1973)
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kissling celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary and had a
house warming in their new home. They entertained relatives and friends from
Michigan, Illinois, Milwaukee, Neillsville and Granton areas. They recently
moved into their new home.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Reinart have had their new trailer home moved onto their site.
Since they they have had their electricity and gas installed and they moved in
July 4 with the assistance of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kalsow and
family and Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart and family; Kent Lonning also assisted with
the moving and they all had picnic dinner on the John Reinart lawn.
The Cannonville Ladies Aid will meet at the church Wednesday July 18, at 1:30
p.m.
The Washburn Homemaker club will hold their annual picnic for members and
families at Sherwood Park Sunday, July 15.
Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Feutz of Wisconsin Rapids called on his mother, Mrs. Chris
Feutz, one morning last week. They were on their way to San Diego, Calif., to
spend a month with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Werner Ziefert.
They planned to visit his brother, Roy Feutz, and family in Lander, Wyo., on
their way. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Galbreath and son, Gary of Athabasca, Canada,
called his cousin, Mrs. Christ Feutz, Monday p.m. They have recently visited
Mrs. Feutz’s brother, Roscoe Galbreath, in Canada. They were on a vacation tour
of the United States with their camper and planned to visit many places. He is
the grandson of Mrs. Feutz’s uncle, Ira Galbreath.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer attended the Southern Sportsman club picnic at
Sherwood Park, July 1.
Robert Mortenson, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mortenson Sr., returned home
last week from Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for a week or
more.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Rutherford of Black River Falls took her father Paul
Schultz, to Memorial Hospital Thursday for treatment.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Stewart of Verona spent a weekend with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ralph Short. They found Mr. Short, improving slowly from his illness.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Kissling and family of Ann Arbor, Mich., spent the week of
July 4 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kissling and help them celebrate their
35th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Kissling and family of Milwaukee
spent the weekend with his parents, also.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Pretsch of Bensenville, Il., Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Pretsch and
family of Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jelinek and son, Roger, and Harry
Carstenson were recent dinner and supper guests of Mrs. Wanda Pretsch and son
Earl.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Romfoe of Procter, Mn, called on his cousin, Mrs. Harold
Elmendorf, recently. They spent the weekend with relatives in Wisconsin Rapids.
Albert Lincoln has a new well drilled last week.
David Spiegel of Marshfield and Bruce Spiegel, Jr., of Wausau visited their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Spiegel, Sr. over July 4, and called on Mrs. Chris
Feutz.
Mr. and Mrs. Art Short and daughter, Elaine, were July 4 evening callers at the
Ralph Short home.
Elsie Bramer of Abbotsford called on Mrs. Art Odell Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Qualley called on Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer July 4.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tannen and family of Minneapolis, Mn, visited her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Albert Lincoln, Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hunt of Ironton called on her sister-in-law, Mrs. Harold
Elmendorf, Thursday. They visited relatives near Thorp over July 4.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Sr., were Merrillan callers last Thursday p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer attended a senior Citizens picnic at Snyder’s Park
last week Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Rodman of Hawthorne, Calif., have been visiting his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Rodman. A family get-together was held at the
Bernard Kuhn home July 4, with Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Rodman, Mr. and Mrs. Horace
Rodman, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Rodman of Minocqua., Bob Rodman of Rhinelander, Mr.
and Mrs. Hallie Schultz of Omro, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ruhn of Tomah and Paul Schultz
in attendance.
Mr and Mrs. Robert (Bunny) Kuhn of Janesville, spent a weekend with his brother
and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kuhn and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Janisch of Morton Grove, Il., were recent callers at the
Barnard and Ernest Kuhn homes.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kapfer of West Bend spent Saturday and Sunday nights
recently with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer. On
Sunday they attended a reunion of the Poler family held at the Nathan Vandeberg
cottage at Hatfield, with many relatives in attendance.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short were recent callers at the Charles Havlicek, Sr., home.
Mrs. Harry Kissling drove to Green Bay recently with her grandchildren, who had
spent a week with her, and she spent a few days with her son-in-law and
daughter, Dr. and Mrs. Ell (Skip) Lee and family.
