Smigla, Edward J. (26 FEB 1904 – 6 JAN 1968)
Funeral services for Edward J. Smigla, 63, were held Wednesday morning at 9:00
o’clock from St. Sylvester Church. Interment was made in St. Adalbert’s
Cemetery, Chicago.
Edward Smigla worked for the City of Chicago for over 20 years. He died of a
stroke. The body lay in state at the Malec and Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Smigla was born Feb. 26, 1904 at Whiting, Ind. As a young lad he was on the
farm in the Town of Roosevelt. His marriage to Helen Bykowski of Chicago took
place at St. Stanislaus Church in Lublin on July 11, 1930.
Survivors, along with Mrs. Smigla, are three sons, Edward Jr. (Connie), Gerald
(Bernadine), and Richard (Josephine), and 4 brothers and sisters, John, Stanley
(Regina) , Nellie (Mrs. John Opachan), and Lorraine (Mrs. Albin Kastzeski), and
seven grandchildren. His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were his nephews Leonard and Johnny of Achan, Stanley and Johnny
Smigla, Bill Busse and Stanley Pekala.
Edward died Jan. 6, 1968 and was buried Jan. 10.
