Henry W. Brown, former treasurer of the town of Mentor (Clark Co., Wis.),
pleaded guilty to a charge of embezzling $4,700 Monday, when he appeared before
Judge E.W. Crosby in Circuit Court. He was sentenced to from 1 to 10 years in
the state penitentiary. Mr. Brown's case was scheduled for trial last spring,
but he failed to appear in court, and the bonds were declared forfeited.
Recently, he was given a chance to reinstate the bonds by coming in and facing
the charges. (Neillsville Press)
