Oliver, Madeleine B. (Tews) (28 FEB 1941 - 3 JAN 2015)

Madeleine B. Oliver, age 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Wausau with family by her side.

She was born on April 28, 1941 to Fred L. and Harriet (Ernst) Tews. Madeleine married the love of her life, John H. Oliver on July 5, 1958 in Chicago, IL.

She is survived by her husband, John Oliver of Stetsonville, Children, Joe (Rita) Oliver of Farmington, MN, Barb (Vic) Munro of Fort Atkinson, Peter Oliver of Stetsonville, Amy (Jim) Kopecky of Danbury, Jim (Tracey) Oliver of Wausau, Dan (Lynn) Oliver of Spencer and Jonathan (Jenna) Oliver of Menominee, MI. Grandchildren: Josiah (Amy), Jamie (Will), Rose (Matt), Samantha, Olivia, Seth, Sydney, Nathan, JT, Destiny, Gage and Desiree. Madeleine is also survived by a brother Bruce Tews of Chico, CA and a sister Donna Hopkins of Chippewa Falls.

She is preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law: John and Mildred Oliver, sons, John and David Oliver and granddaughter Jessica Oliver.

After completing high school at Chicago Luther High School South, Madeleine started her career with becoming a licensed beautician in Chicago. In 1977, John and Madeleine decided to make a move from Burbank, IL to Stetsonville to pursue the dream of dairy farming. Madeleine also worked at Special Touch Bridal in Medford for 12 years performing fitting and alterations. She always had a passion for nursing so she studied and worked her way to becoming an RN. After that, she continued her education graduating with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with her BSN degree in 2008. She retired as a RN from Colonial Center, Colby.

Madeleine enjoyed many hobbies from sewing and gardening to camping and being outdoors. She loved traveling and stopping at unique antique stores. She was always looking for treasures to include in her doll house collection. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Madeleine had such a loving heart to have the ability to foster 26 children while raising her own. She was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville and a member of the Ladies Mission Circle.

Funeral Services for Madeleine B. Oliver will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 8 at the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville with Rev. James Babler officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the church.

Burial will take place in the Zion Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Stetsonville. Madeleine’s children will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Madeleine’s family to be designated at a later date. Hemer Funeral Services of Medford and Rib Lake is assisting the family with arrangements.
