Pfc. Vernard Swieso, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Swieso, who has been in Japan
since September, received his honorable discharge for re-enlistment in the
regular Army.
He landed in Seattle and reported at Fort Sheridan, Ill., and arrived home last
week for a 30-day furlough, before going to Fort Monroe, Va. for further
engineer training.
Vernard entered the armed forces Jan. 24, 1945 and had training at Fort
McClellan, Ala. and Fort Ord, Calif. before going overseas. He was with the Army
Infantry, but was transferred into special Engineering Brigade while at
Hachinohe, Japan.
