Wendt, Melvin (30 January 1944 - 8 January 2015)

Melvin Wendt, 70, of Eau Claire took his ‘last 8-second ride’ Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at his home. He was born Jan. 30, 1944, to Alvin and Luella (Berrett) Wendt in Neillsville. Melvin attended Riverside Elementary School and Neillsville High School. He enjoyed trucking, going to the casino and grilling. He enjoyed inviting his family and friends into his ‘office’ for long conversations, which everyone enjoyed very much.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Dawn, of Eau Claire; six children, Tarenna (Terry) Gackstetter of Minnesota; AJ (Amanda) Huiesman of California, Laura Wendt of Montana; Bobbi Sue Hart of Nebraska; Jessica (Pat) Suckow of Eau Claire and Thomas (Wendy) Slayton of Ridgeland; 12 grandchildren: Jacob, Jessica, Christa, Kayla, Dominick, Leah, Chase, Austin, Jadyn, Makenzi, Cecelia, Kaitlynn and two on the way; five great-grandchildren and one on the way; and two sisters: Edris (Frank) Hrasky of Watertown and Janice (Ronald) Hribar of Oconomowoc; and nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A Memorial gathering was held Friday, Jan. 16, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Seymour Town Hall, 6500 Tower Dr. in Eau Claire.

Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona, assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.cremationsociaty-wi.com.
