Wozniak, Ann (28 February 1915 - 14 January 2015)

Ann Wozniak, age 99, of Minneota, MN, formerly of Thorp (Morgan Plaza resident), and long-time resident of Chicago, IL, passed away at Minneota Manor on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday January 21, 2015, at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church in Lublin. Rev. Edward Batchko officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Ann Peleschak was born on February 28, 1915, in Lublin, WI, the daughter of Ambrose and Julia (Sweda) Peleschak. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Lublin area. At the age of 16, Ann moved to Chicago and did domestic work for families. She was united in marriage to Leon ‘Rudy’ Wozniak on June 20, 1937, at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, in Lublin. After their marriage, they resided in Chicago, where Ann worked at a Singer Sewing Center, demonstrating sewing machines and sewing techniques. She took time off from work to raise her children until they went to school, and then went back to work, holding various jobs in the Chicago area until retiring in 1985.

She had many interests, but especially enjoyed attending and participating in church, visiting and joking with family and friends, and container gardening. She loved dancing, and never missed the Ed Sullivan Show. Ann was also a gifted seamstress who enjoyed making and altering clothes. Her daughter still has beautiful Poni Doll clothes, and her son still has his clothed Howdy Doody puppet!

Ann was a lifelong member of Holy Assumption Orthodox Church.

She will be dearly missed by two children: Janell Wagoner and Gary (Sandra) Wozniak, both of Tyler, MN; two grandsons: Christopher (Wendy) Wozniak and Gregory Wozniak; two great-granddaughters: Chrystal and Hannah Wozniak; three sisters: Ella Handa of Aurora, IL, Irene (Edward) Jasinski of Thorp, Katherine (Marvin) Piwoni of Gilman; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudy, on March 31, 1972; three brothers: Matt, Mike and Nick Peleschak; and two sisters: Helen Gasiorowski and Mary Zielinski.
