Schutten, John David (14 SEP 1941 - 15 JAN 2015)

John David Schutten, 73, of Hannibal, died on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 at his home under the care of Hope Hospice of Medford.

He was born on Sept. 14, 1941 in Racine. John grew up there and entered the United States Army for a time. He married Sally Mallo on Aug. 26, 1974 in Tillamook, Ore. John primarily worked road construction until his retirement, then moved back to Wisconsin.

He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting and also liked to fly remote airplanes.

John is survived by his wife, Sally, of Hannibal; four children, Tina, Tami, Frieda and David Schutten; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allen and Dean Schutten; and sisters, Lucille Rogers and Betty Noll.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Hannibal, with Rev. Barry Boyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Hannibal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Gilman Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
