Baumann, Mary Ann (Furger) (5 FEB 1925 - 11 JAN 2015)
Mary Ann Baumann, 89, Marathon, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, under the care of
Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Wausau Manor.
She was born Feb. 5, 1925, in the town of Emmet, daughter of the late John and
Anna (Salzman) Furger. On Sept. 25, 1943, she married Walter Baumann at St. Mary
Catholic Church, Marathon. He preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 2006.
Mrs. Baumann was a homemaker, dairy and ginseng farmer in the town of Emmet all
her life. She also drove school bus for Knauf Bus Service for many years. Some
of her favorite pastimes included quilting, cooking, baking, canning and card
playing.
Survivors include her children, Janice (Jerry) Gage, Marathon, Dennis (Gail)
Baumann, Rib Mountain, Laurence (Elaine) Baumann, River Falls, Floyd (Sandee)
Baumann, Lloyd (Joanie) Baumann and Sandy (Doug) Borchardt, all of Marathon; 19
grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Walker, she was preceded in death by three
sisters.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at St.
Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier presided. Burial
was in the parish cemetery. Friends called on Wednesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, and again on Thursday from 10 a.m.
until the time of services at the church.
