Will, Jeanette M. (Vandeberg) (15 MAY 1928 - 14 JAN 2015)
Jeanette M. Will, age 86, of Colby, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan.
14, 2015, at Pine Ridge Assisted Living in Colby under the care of Aspirus
Comfort Care Hospice Services.
Jeanette was born on May 15, 1928, in the town of York in Clark County, the
daughter of Clarence and Naomi (Durst) Vandeberg. She attended school in Owen,
later transferring to Loyal High School from which she graduated.
Jeanette was united in marriage to Donald Will on May 21, 1949, at Saint
Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal. She owned and operated a dairy farm and,
along with her husband, Donald, raised their family and both undertook all the
farming responsibilities. At age 75, Jeanette could still be found in her barn
milking her dairy cows. Sadly, her husband, Donald, passed away on October 24,
1997.
Her hobbies included softball, bowling, throwing darts, shooting pool and
snowmobiling. She also enjoyed embroidery work, quilting and polka dancing. She
was never afraid of hard work and loved both working and singing in her barn.
Jeanette was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby.
Survivors include her daughter, Dianne (Randy) Cloud of Unity; her two sons,
Gary (Mary Ann) Will of Colby and Dennis (Susan) Will of Colby; nine
grandchildren, Denise (Andy) Peissig of Tomahawk, Joann Will of Manitowoc, Kevin
(Jody) Will of Curtiss, Roxann (Tim) Ebert of Lac du Flambeau, Tori (Eric
Cronkright) Cloud of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Anthony (Penni) Cloud of Unity, Travis
Will of Colby, Trevor Will of Colby and Tim Will of Colby; and 10
great-grandchildren. Jeanette is further survived by one brother, Ivan (Gloria)
Vandeberg of Springfield, Ore.; two sisters, Dorothy (James) Eckes of Marshfield
and Shirley (Floyd) Willhite of Springfield, Ore.; along with nieces and
nephews; other relatives and friends.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; three
brothers, Marvin, Verlyn and Milford; and two sisters, Alice Piper and Rosie
Hansen.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, at
St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. Rev. Daniel Hackel presided. Burial
followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. A visitation was held on Saturday at the church
from 9 a.m. until time of service. The honor of pallbearers belonged to Kevin,
Travis, Trevor and Tim Will and Tony Cloud.
