Anderson, William ‘Billy’ Charles Jr. (19 March 1939 - 21 January 2015) With Flag

William ‘Billy’ Charles Anderson, Jr., 75, went to play his music for the angels Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, in Neillsville.

William Charles Anderson, Jr. was born in Waterloo, IA, March 19, 1939. From a very young age, Billy knew he loved music and began playing the organ at a bar where his dad cleaned. As he grew up, he took private music lessons and eventually studied classical music at the University of Northern Iowa. Billy was drafted into the United States Army Jan. 2, 1962, during the Cuban Missile Crisis, but even that did not stop him from playing his music. After his honorable discharge, Dec. 4, 1963, he performed in many states across the Midwest and was currently a regular in Wisconsin Dells and was well known for playing at Fannies Supper Club in Neillsville. He also recorded and released two CDs.

Billy also enjoyed bird watching and bicycling and took part in the Ragbrai, a bicycle trip across Iowa.

Billy will be greatly missed by his significant other, Sarah Poertner of Neillsville, and many friends and family members from Waterloo, IA.

The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville is assisting Billy’s family.
