Rave, Rhoda M. (8 October 1918 - 24 October 2014)
Rhoda M. Rave, 96, of Black River Falls passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at
Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls while under the care of Black River
Memorial Hospice. She was born Oct. 8, 1918, in the Tomah Indian Hospital to
William and Annie (Falcon) Hall.
Rhoda attended Komensky School, Tomah Indian School, Neillsville Indian School
and Black River Falls High School. She also attended the Parent Education
Program at University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Rhoda was united in marriage to
Victor Kingswan; they were later divorced. She then married Duncan Rave, Sr.
Besides being a homemaker, Rhoda worked a Dadco Food Products. Rhoda enjoyed
spending time with her grandchildren, family get-togethers, short day travels,
basket making and watching the ‘Price is Right’ and ‘Wheel of Fortune.’ She was
a member of the Native American Church, where she also assisted her late husband
in the duties of the church.
Rhoda is survived by her children, Maxine (Elliot) Kingswan Kolner, Maynard
(Jessie) Rave, Sr., Valerie (William Bartlett and Loren Rave; many grandchildren
and great-grandchildren; brothers, Reuben and Adam Hall; sister, Mildred Hall
Link; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duncan Rave, Sr. in 1977; children,
Sharon Kingswan Harrison, Reuben Rave, Sr., Brian Rave, Gloria Rave and Meredith
Rave; brothers Ebenezer, Sidney, Robert and Joseph Hall; a sister, Grace Hall
and Norman Hall Whitebear.
Native American Church services were held Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at 1 p.m. at
Ho-Chunk District One Community Center, Black River Falls. Mann John Falcon
presided over services. Burial followed in Decorah Cemetery, Black River Falls.
Family and friends were invited for visitation Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, from 3
p.m. until 5 p.m. at Ho-Chunk District One Community Center, with prayer
services following throughout the night.
