Mr. and Mrs. James Turnquist and family spent the weekend at Clam Lake with Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Wallin.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dill of Chicago are visiting at the home of his mother, Mrs.
Lydia Dill and with other relatives in the area.
Mrs. Effie Swieso returned home Sunday after spending the weekend at the home of
her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Thiede. Her grandson, James
Thiede, brought her home. He was enroute to St. Paul, where he attends college.
Mrs. Alice Perkins and Mrs. Olive Newman were Saturday guests at the Vila Thede
home in Abbotsford.
Mr and Mrs. Romaine Ellingson and children, Beth Ann and Bobbie of Madison,
visited Thursday and Friday at the home of his mother, Mrs. Louise Ellingson.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Heck and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Gardner returned here Monday
after spending several days with their son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce
Miller at Monticello, Ind.
Mrs. Harold Prust and sons, Michael and Jeffrey, returned to Plymouth Thursday
after visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Johnson and with
her brothers, Sam and Harry Johnson and their families.
Frederick Kuester of Iowa spent the weekend at the home of his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Elmer Kuester. On Saturday he was an attendant at a wedding in Thorp.
Graham Roierer is a patient at the Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.
The Wednesday afternoon Bridge club met at the home of Mrs. Don Warner.
The Canasta Club will be entertained at a supper meeting at the home of Mrs.
Palmer Vinger, Friday evening August 3.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Plunkett, Jr., and family arrived from Milwaukee to visit at
the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Plunkett.
Theodore Braun was admitted Wednesday morning at a Marshfield hospital.
Lieut. Col. Tom Larson and children, Jennifer and Jeffrey, arrived from San
Antonio, Tex., to spend a few days at the home of Mrs. Don Warner.
The birthday of Mrs. Amy Hendrickson was celebrated Monday at her home and in
the activity room at the Black River Apartments. A potluck supper was served.
Twenty eight relatives and friends were present. They were her daughter, Mrs.
Don Dusso and son, Donnie, Fond du Lac; her granddaughter, Mr. and Mrs. James
Hesselman and children, Greenfield; Mrs. Jerome Bertz, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Hendrickson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hendrickson and son, Randy,
Mrs. David Danielson, Mrs. Ralph Ystad, Mrs. Anna Elmer, Mrs. Lex Dusso, Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Turnquist, Mr and Mrs. Arthur Turnquist, Mrs. John Felix, Mrs. Edwin
Hegenbarth and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Erickson.
Delton Jollivette and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Clintsman spent Saturday and Sunday at
Cumberland at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kaiser, former Greenwood residents.
Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Spangler and children of Watertown are spending a two weeks’
vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Viv Carteron and other relatives.
Sunday guests at the home of Mrs. William Kuester were her children and
grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Kuester and family and Mr. and Mrs. James
Luther and son of La Crosse.
Mrs. Don Dusso and son of Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. James Hesselman and
children, Greenfield, spent Monday and Tuesday here with their mother and
grandmother, Mrs. Amy Hendrickson and with other relatives.
Mrs. Elaine Blaettler of San Diego, Ca., arrived Sunday for a visit with her
sister, Mrs. Leon Kuester and family and at the home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Claude Catlin at Loyal.
Harland Carl of Madison was a Thursday overnight guests at the home of his
mother, Mrs. Irvin Carl.
Mr. and mrs. A. F. Ehrlich, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Smith and Mrs. Clara Smith
returned to Milwaukee Sunday, after a visit at the home of Mrs. Irvin Carl.
Mrs. Gordon Brown of Bergland, Mich., spent from Saturday until Tuesday with her
father, John Vesel at the Eugene Sowieja home and with other relatives.
Mr. and mrs. Lloyd Stewart and children, Cindy, May Lou, John and Keith, moved
here Monday from Amarillo, Tex., and are temporarily residing in the Brux
trailer court. Mr. Stewart is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart.
Friday evening visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Danielson were Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Peterson of Marengo, Il., who are also visiting with her brothers,
Dale and Raymond Horn and their families.
Mrs. Edwin Hegenbarth returned Satruday from Stanley where she spent several
days at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Karlen.
While there, on Thursday she attended the first birthday party of her
great-granddaughter, Stacy Karlen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Karlen.
Gilman Strommen of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Greenwood was a Friday dinner
guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Erickson.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tolaney spent several days with their children, John Tolaney
and family in Milwaukee and Mrs. Pat O’Brien and family in Racine.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Horn, Jr., are the parents of a son, Jeffrey Todd, born
July 20, at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville. He joins a brother, Gregory and a
sister, Amy. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Horn, Sr., of Willard and Mr.
and Mrs. Chester Hemme of Waterloo, Il.
Mr. and Mrs. Karl Radant and family of New Holstein and Mr. and Mrs. Clark
Radant spent the past week with Mrs. Karl Radant’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Hubert Kuehn.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Dallman and family and Mr. and Mrs. Tennes Navrestad and
family spent a week vacationing at the Metcalf cottage in Hayward.
Lieut. Col. and Mrs. Lynn Blecha and Leona Evers of Chelsea, Mich., spent a week
at the home of his aunt, Mrs. James Metcalf and at the home of Mrs. Berta
Dallman. They had spent six weeks on a trip to Alaska prior to coming here.
The Forest Queen Royal Neighbors picnic was held Monday, August 6, at the
Greenwood Park. Members were asked to bring their own dishes and silverware and
a dish to pass. Wieners and bread were furnished.
The Oakland Homemakers will meet at the home of Mrs. Elmer Kuester at 8:15 p.m.,
Wednesday, August 8. Mrs. Kuester will give a demonstration on bead crafts.
Mr and Mrs. Larry Dallman and children, Timothy and Lisa accompanied by her
mother, Mrs. Frieda Thorsen and daughter, Carol spent from Thursday until Sunday
at Waukegan, Il., with relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Stewart and daughters, Shirley and Vicki of Middleton, spent
the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart and attended his 25th
class reunion Saturday evening at Amber Inn in Loyal.
Miss Mary Pfeifer and her finance, Gary Saunders of Milwaukee, visited Sunday
with her grandmother, Mrs. Effie Swieso.
Donald Elmer is spending some time with his mother, Mrs. Anna Elmer and other
relatives and friends, before returning to Sun Valley, Ariz.
Mr. and Mrs. Duane Stewart and daughters, Patti Jo and Kathy arrived Monday from
Springfield, Va., to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart and other
relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cox were Sunday visitors at Eau Claire at the home of
their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jerrold Kuester.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kowieski of Auburndale were Sunday afternoon visitors at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. John Kaltinger.
The American Legion Auxiliary will meet in the Legion Hall Monday, august 13, at
8 p.m. Hostesses will be Mrs. Al Klinke, Mrs. Herbert Laib, Mrs. George Klovas
and Mrs. Donald Lindner.
Sunday Dinner and supper guests at the Viv Carteron home were: Mrs. Florence
Schwarze, Mrs. Laura Richmond, Mrs. Eunice Froelich of Barrington, Il.; William
Richmond and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Karnitz of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Cyril
Spangler and family of Watertown and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harp of Chippewa Falls.
Mr. and Mrs. James Turnquist and family took their nephews, Richard and James
Ackermann to St. Paul Saturday, where the boys took the plane to their home in
Sumter, S.C. after spending the summer months at the Turnquist home and with
their grandmother, Mrs. Glen Drew.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Abel and family spent from Friday until Sunday with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Abel and with other relatives. The children
remained for a two week visit when their parents returned to Racine.
Leonard Thiede of Marshfield and James Thiede of Ames, Ia., were Saturday dinner
guests at the home of Mrs. Effie Swieso.
Mrs. Louise Ellingson returned here after a 10-day outing spent at Curtis, Mi.,
with her brothers and their wives and her sister and her husband. They also
visited other points of interest in Northern Michigan, Wisconsin and Canada.
A family reunion was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart.
Children and grandchildren present were: Mr. and Mrs. Duane Stewart and family
of Springfield, Il.; Dr. and Mrs. Gary Rohde and family of Black River Falls;
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Stewart and family; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Decker and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Stewart and sons, Bobbie and Tommy of Eau Claire; and
Suzanne, Andy and Carol Stewart. Sunday evening Mr. and Mrs. Richard Korn and
family of Loyal joined the group.
Brian Keith Kind, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Kind of Marshfield, was baptized by
the Rev. Pacifico Camarin Sunday morning in the Immanuel United Church of
Christ. Sponsors were Amber Nirva and Steve Kind. The maternal grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Chester Nirva entertained at their home in Withee following the
services.
Bobbi Lynn Toburen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delmain Toburen has been dismissed
from St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
Mr. and mrs. Robert Clintsman and daughter, Nancy and Pam Schultz, took their
son, Robert Clintsman, Jr., to La Crosse Sunday where he took a plane to Fort
Leonard Wood, after a three day pass spent with his parents. The Clintsman
family also visited friends in Pepin and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon
Tyrrell at Menomonie.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Severson and Miss Louise Keiner went to White Lake near
Montello on Friday, where they spent the weekend with their son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kaisler of Waukesha. Other guests at the Kaisler
cottage came from Pewaukee, Milwaukee and Sussex.
