Roberts, Dr. David (Sentenced for Crime – 11 Jul 1918)
Dr. David Roberts, found guilty on a statutory charge growing out of the
Lusk-Roberts triangle, was given the maximum sentence of one year in the house
of correction by Judge Paige in the district court here. His attorneys were
given twenty-four hours to enter an appeal.
In pronouncing sentence Judge Paige said he thought it would be a “travesty of
justice” to consider the case against Dr. Roberts an ordinary one when the
actions of Dr. Roberts and Grace Lusk led to such “a terrible tragedy” in the
death of Mrs. Mary Newman Roberts at the hands of Miss Lusk.
