Wagner Family (Memorial – 11 Jul 1918)

In Memory of Nelda and Nora Wagner and Leona Linster

The children came to the brink
At early morning’s dawn;
Oh, ferryman, ferryman,
Take us over the stream.
A father sought the children
And gazed along the wave,
Oh chilling, chilling stream.
Who hath power to save?

A mother in her grief
Was weeping by the shore,
Her darlings gone, will not return,
Never, never more.
In silvery tones a song
Came back across the wave,
“Safe at home, at home,
Christ hath power to save.”
