York Center (18 Jul 1918)

Miss Meyer of Muscoda came Monday for a visit with her sister, Mrs. Jesse Rowe.

Donald Grabe came up from Rockford, Ill., for a few days’ visit here with old friends.

R.E. Lawrence has his new barn about completed with the exception of the basement.

Ed. Fulwiler and family of Loyal spent a few hours here last Sunday with his mother, who is sick.

Mrs. Mary Redmond, Mrs. Matie Ketchum and son, Douglas, who have resided at Rice Lake for several years, are moving to Oshkosh, and stopped off here for a few days’ visit with Mrs. Redmond’s brother, Wm. Rowe, and family.

The funeral of John Begley was conducted from the M.E. Church here Tuesday afternoon.

A party of government surveyors have been camping here the past week and on Saturday night a surprise was tendered them. Ice cream was served.

The patrons of the York Center Cheese Factory met Saturday night to discuss the advisability of putting in a whey separator. No conclusion was reached and another meeting will be held next Saturday night.

Briney O’Brien of Rockford, Ill., was a caller here the past week.

Walter Rowe and family and A.P. Fulwiler autoed to Loyal last Wednesday night and attended a conference meeting held in the M.E. Church there by the district Supt., W.J. Irish of Eau Claire.

The funeral of Art Teatz was held here in the M.E. Church last Thursday afternoon, and was conducted by Rev. E.E. Streavy from Loyal. It was largely attended.
