F.C. Bohnhoff, who has been very ill the past week, is somewhat better at this
writing.
George Jonkel is our new substitute on the mail route in place of Otakar
Sindelar, resigned.
Anton Jonkel and wife of Chicago are spending a couple weeks with his people
here.
Ted Bornholdt and wife of Granton spent Sunday evening with his people here. Ted
has received his call to the colors and will leave for Camp Grant Friday
afternoon.
Miss Alma Christofferson of Houghton, Mich., arrived Saturday for a few days’
visit at the home of her uncle, Chas. Christofferson, before leaving for
Chicago, where she expects to register for Red Cross service.
John Larson has been called to the colors and will leave for Camp Grant Friday.
Miss Mary Horak of Merrillan spent the past week with her people here, returning
to her work Saturday evening.
Fred Christen and family of Humbird and Louis Handke and family of Shortville
dined at A. Schlender’s Sunday.
Leslie Sherman of Merrillan came up Sunday after his wife and son, who have been
visiting her parents here.
Misses Anna Mashin and Alma and Olga Christofferson, A. Schlender and family and
Russel Poertner were Sunday visitors at the Jonkel home.
W.C. Gregory and family of Humbird spent Sunday at the Iverson home here.
Our school district nearly doubled the quota in the recent W.S.S. drive.
Mrs. Chas. Ehlert received word Monday of the death of her mother.
